Services
• Full body massage
• Targeted massage
• Maintenance massage program
For most clients, we recommend a full body sports massage. This takes about 75-90 minutes. The full body massage covers all areas and is tailored to the horse being worked on. The therapist can locate and concentrate on the areas of greatest stress, so that your horse’s entire body will be in better condition. The cost is $50.00. Farm call fees may apply, depending on the distance traveled.
Pre-event: A massage before an event will leave your horse relaxed and ready for competition, the show ring, or a trail ride. Some horses may be sore shortly after a massage, so until you can observe how well your horse tolerates massage, it is recommended that you allow 24 hours before the competition.
Post event: A massage 24-48 hours after a competition will relieve muscle pain and stiffness, returning muscles to a normal state more quickly than they could without the massage.
Targeted massage concentrates on specific areas requested or referred by a veterinarian.
Maintenance massage program: We can work with each client to develop a maintenance plan designed to keep your horse feeling and performing well. A regular schedule for maintenance massage is typically at 6 to 8 week intervals. We can work out a balanced monthly payment schedule if the client wishes.
After the first massage, your will be able to feel a significant improvement in the way your horse moves. After a second massage, many of the chronic problems your horse may have will begin to go away. After three massages, your horse will be able to use his muscles better, and will start to regain strength and muscle tone in areas that have been chronically stiff and painful.
Before and after
The therapist would be grateful if your horse is brushed clean before
the appointment. Afterward, the horse should be walked briskly in hand
for at least 5 minutes. Providing there are no other conditions, or
vet-ordered rest, the horse can be exercised under saddle immediately
after the massage. Some horses may be sore the first day after the
massage, but will quickly work it out.
Massage therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free method of alleviating many problems that restrict a horse’s ability to perform. It is not a substitute for good veterinary care. We do not diagnose, prescribe, or claim to cure.
